Photo tips: Color Foreground Interesting Sky
Focusing on Photography while seeing color and sky as art. As I walked along pass this scene, I stopped, stopped because of color. The pink flowering trees don’t really show but the colors of the cement and the sky really enhance this photo.

This week I am doing something different and showing all three photos shot from this one scene. As I followed my advice beyond the first shot, I backed up and included more in the foreground to see how that looks. For my posted pictures I change the size to smaller. The smaller picture must still have impact. The larger picture sometimes might have a different impact like seeing the pink flowering plants.
Looking at the three photos which are you drawn too and why?
The Vertical versus Horizontal makes a difference too. The Horizontal shows the interesting sky which makes that photo work in an eye catching way. Probably what caused me to stop and look. For myself I like all three photos for different reasons.
Shooting photographs while walking around takes me outside of myself, even outside of my body and thoughts. Being on the computer so much, sometimes ‘surfing addictively’, I need to get out in the air and escape my mind. Turning a fun afternoon outing into two events creates a wonderful space. Riding children’s rides because most of the adult rides are too intense for me brings up the ‘child within’ and brings out he playfulness required to create. Photography follows and sometimes leads but not from the ‘child within’ but from a creative place.

I loved my exploration with this picture, this scene, and this end to a playful afternoon.

Interesting. I like the first one the best. I like the horizontal positioning & the sky is more colorful and defined. Nice subject matter.

I like the first one too. The dark chain contrasts well with the bright background of the subject.

I prefer the first one as well. It shows me more and the colours seem stronger and brighter.

Interesting way to see what looks best; I like seeing all three in one blog post so we can see the difference.
I vote for #1 too.

Leigh, I took number 1 first but wanted to try out the others with different foreground – it is validation that everyone likes the one I was drawn to First – I set up for capture and got my shot

No 1 best. The chain is placed so allows the viewer to note it but look past it as if discovering what is beyond it.
In No2 the chain near middle, obstructs rather than facilitates the view.
In 3 the shot is just too cluttered.
Good post to illustrate how to compose the pic.

Jim, Great comments. I was fascinating to go from what I instinctually do to add some elements i have talked about and see how sometimes it is more than just putting stuff in the foreground. Thanks for your thoughts

The first one. In the other two the chains distract from the image too much.

I like the first one the best for a few reasons. I like the composition with just the top of the post on the left and being closer on the chain as it stretches up and towards me. I also like the interesting sky plus the extra splash of color on the left with the green hill. I think having some room on the right of the ride gives it an interesting look as well.
An interesting study of different ways to shoot the same picture.
