For me there is something about costume characters that brings joy to my heart and fun to my soul. They are fascinating even though we know there is a person inside. For me I turn into a child where everything is good. Where Santa believes in me and believes I am good and will bring me presents. It sets off lots of feel good emotions about myself and the character. Feeling hugged and loved just because I am.

As I looked for photos for Photo Thursday, I came across these few on a CD from a defunct photo storage website. They were from film negatives and upload when they were developed by Club Photo. Cypress Gardens was around for a very long time but with the big name theme parks, no one went down the road for the Beauties and the ski show anymore. It closed shortly after this visit. Reopened. Closed again.

Photo Tips: Take the unusual photo even if it looks like a postcard

Wonderful trip through the Scandinavian Countries, Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Denmark. Four weeks was a great time to use their version of Eurail pass that was only good for those countries but included Trains, Boats, and, Ferries which allowed me to go far and wide for a lower cost.

Stunning Castle – What is its name and where is it?

Searching online I have not been able to find anyone else who took a picture like this of a castle. My other photographs from that trip are in storage and on negatives or slides – I have not been able to absolutely identify this beautifully Stunning Castle. Anyone who can shed light on this for me – greatly appreciated.

Photo Tips Love the outdoors

Photograph of Stalheim which is amazing and delightful scenery in a beautiful country where you can enjoy trains, boats, and buses. Loved my travels in this country. Met some wonderful people on the Train on this trip who invited me to their country home out on the archipelagos. All of that will have to wait for another story.

Scanned photograph from an 8 x 10 mounted Photo for a Photography Show I entered but did not win. Landscapes were not winners. Not sure the scan does it justice. Not sure how to make a scan better. Did use Photoshop to do Adjustments to Brightness, Contrast, Shadows, and Highlights. Most of my photos, negatives, and slides are in storage. Just checked it out on my second monitor and the colors are brilliant and perfect. The laptop washes it out some. Therefore the scan was better than I originally thought. Carrying this picture is part of having a piece of a great time with me until I finally am able to get things out of storage.

Photo Tips: Take several photos variety is spice of life

Tried some different things here to understand the camera I was using and the scene. First, as you know I like to add things to the picture, not physically but compositionally. A beach by itself is not that interesting most of the time.

Hollywood Beach 1

I wanted the pathway arches or wall to the beach in the picture. The palm trees are part of the ambiance of Florida. The sky was very interesting.

Hollywood Beach 2

I found I could tilt the camera up or down and getting very different lighting. Of course this is one of those camera with a screen that is difficult to see in sunlight and there is no eye piece.
