Photo Tips Travel Photo Thursday
For this week I want to show the three shots I took and how changing an angle and the composition can change the emotions and the overall feeling of the image. First I will post them and talk about each one. My goal was to capture the 100 sign for Fort Lauderdale 100 years. Digital Cameras allow immediate feedback to change and adjust your shots if there is time before the subject changes.

100 Year Sign Fort Lauderdale Straight on Shot Photo by Eileen Ludwig
I was here celebrating Fort Lauderdale Beach Great American Beach Party and saw the 100 year sign celebrating this year as their 100 years. I knew I wanted it for a possible posting. There were people everywhere and tables setup for information on the Party. I prefer my pictures like this without people. I wanted the number. The straight on shot got me the number. Did I get what I wanted? No It was blah without Serenity or pizzazz. I walked around to see what else I could do to capture the number. Tried zoom and different angles.

The next shot was an angle that included the blue sky, clouds, the sailboat within the zero and the water in the background. This was a much better shot. The composition was the right amount in my mind’s eye to the left giving the picture depth, a three-dimensional feeling. The 1911 shining gave it a good focal point to emphasize the 100 year start. The Sailboat with the colors and red sun was incredibly artistic and captured perfectly. I love sailing and really wanted this in the picture. Did I get what I wanted? Yes

Although the last shot doesn’t get me the 100, it does get me that great Artistic piece with the Sailboat, waves, and sun with the sky in the background. Depending on the article or what I was writing or wanting to present, this might be the perfect picture. The picture works for me as showcasing Art.
Taking multiple pictures in the day of digital photography allows me to create a better finished product and learn more by trying. I find sometimes I bracket pictures. Also, if you tilt your camera up or down slightly you can change the lighting from over exposed to darker. This has been a fun discovery.
Serenity is my theme
Even with the number 100 there can be Serenity by changing the Angle and lighting and what is captured. The Second picture draws me to the beach as a great entrance to enjoying the day. It has a happy feeling to it with a sense of celebration by the numbers and their meanings.
I love the finished product.

Sailor, I can see why you might like first picture. The 100 is framed by the trees and the bikes add another dimension to the story. The bikes are a means of transportation that many people took to get to the event. The sky is great with the blue. Seeing the whole number and the colors are inviting in the first picture.
